Georgian Mother of Pearl "Pastoral" Gaming Token love token stamped 375DATE: Georgian, c. 1780 An unusual Georgian gaming token (aka gambling token) fashioned as a mother of pearl disc with jagged edge and a pastoral scene etched onto the front. It features a lamb walking through a field, with fence and willow tree in the background all beautifully executed. These gaming tokens were used to keep score in card games such as Ombre and Quadrille, and, via Poker during the 19th century, are precursors to modern day casino
